A great find over at Six Revisions - a post linking 45 free fonts tagged with the category heading "Clean, Modern, Web 2.0" with large sized font previews.

"The proper selection of typography in a design can set the appropriate theme and mood that the designer is going for. There are a lot of free fonts on the web - created by talented designers and type foundries."

Use these as a basis for PSD to xHTML designs, or chose one from the list as a suggestion for a full custom design that matches the style of your vision.

Welcome to the new home of eFlux Design on the web.

eFlux Design Group is a small and dedicated company run as a sole proprietorship backed by a network of skilled, supporting professionals. The goal is to provide design services that are a cut above the average design firm, with an aim towards quality over quantity.

While there are more than a handful of designers and design firms to be found, few can realistically provide a professional level of quality through both graphic design and usability. Many may look and agree that a website is 'good' or functional; but fact shows a large percentage do not truly understand the difference between a mediocre and good design. It is only when we are given a tangible comparison that we gain the knowledge of difference.

The goal of any design or project, is ultimately to satisfy the vision and constraints of the customer, while balancing the desire to create.

Through the use of a blog-type structure, I hope that you will find the site both informative and easier to navigate. It has been designed to be fully searchable by title, content and date, as well as being open to comment on specific articles from anonymous users.

With the goal of further enhancing the usability of the website, I've also added an interactive Quote Generator which can be found under the Services section. Simply drag the sliders to set the base options for your design - PSD to xHTML, or custom xHTML web design and the amount of pages you require in relation to turnaround time - then select a few simplified options below based on your needs. You may then directly submit the estimate by email by click of a button - its that simple!

Advertising

Do you have a handle on advertising? Advertising can be defined as the act or practice of calling public attention to one's product or service.

The most important aspects of advertising beyond strategic planning of placement, are the marketing materials themselves. Your goal is to provide as much information with as little as possible (read: to the point) about your product or service, in a visually appealing manner. How you do this, of course, either makes or breaks a potential ad campaign.

There are many aspects to creating a well designed ad, but one of them, coming up with that 'killer' headline, can be a daunting task.

Browser Wars Revisited

As a web designer, I am all too familiar with the reality of cross-browser compatibility. Has it gotten any better? Which is the better browser? Which do you prefer?

**Disclaimer. Discussions of competing software often causes involuntary fits of anger and defensive behavior. Please be warned.

If you're at all experienced with the net, there is no doubt you are familiar with or at least have heard about the main competitors (you're likely running one of these to view this): Internet Explorer by Microsoft and Firefox by the Mozilla Corporation. For those of you on Mac, we'll include Safari into the fray as well.

Server Migration

Please note and excuse any possible dead links, or outdated blog posts as we move everything over to our brand new servers. We are pulling from an old database backup for both our front page as well as our portfolio due to our previous hosting company's downtime.

Stay tuned for more details and pricing, as we are happy to announce we now offer hosting packages to our customers through our brand new quad core server system.
